Saanich police have issued a warning after a mother bear and her cub were spotted at a children’s hospital early Monday morning.

A security guard at Queen Alexandra Centre spotted the bears on his routine patrol at around 3:15 a.m., according to police.

The bears were seen walking in the field behind the Fisher Building, toward the nearby beach.

The same guard later found bear scat at the front entrance to the Fisher Building, police said.

He notified the BC Conservation Service, which says no other sightings of the bears have been reported yet.

Anyone who spots the bears are asked to report it to Saanich police at 250-475-4321 or the BC Conservation Officer Service at 1-877-952-7277.
