Morning sunshine could turn to afternoon showers in Winnipeg on Monday. A line of showers sweeping across the southwest early Monday afternoon is moving eastward across southern Manitoba. There is also the risk of thunderstorms. Flashes of lightening were observable on radar in showers moving into Manitoba from Saskatchewan early in the afternoon. Showers with the risk of thunderstorms will continue Monday evening across the south, as they also spread into northwestern Ontario. Temperatures will reach the upper teens and low 20s in the south on Monday, ushered in by strong and gusty south winds. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, rain will also spread across most of northern Manitoba on Monday and into Tuesday. The weather agency said an area from La Ronge, Sask., to Flin Flon and The Pas, Man., could see 15 to 25 millimetres of precipitation. Rain will fall across the northwest on Monday afternoon, before spreading to central areas in the evening and, eventually, into the northeast on Tuesday. Sunshine will return to the western side of the province on Tuesday with strong and gusty north winds. The eastern side of the province, including Winnipeg, could get off to a soggy start in showers on Tuesday in the morning, before drier, sunnier conditions return in the afternoon. By the mid-week, daytime highs will rise into the low to mid 20s in Winnipeg, in mostly sunshine. As the May long weekend approaches, conditions are looking mixed. Friday will be cloudier and noticeably cooler, with a forecast high of 14 C. Daytime highs on Saturday and Sunday will be similar, with a mix of sun and cloud on Saturday and the possibility of all too familiar May long weekend showers on Sunday.
