Two Windsor McDonald’s managers have been recognized among the top five per cent of restaurant leaders across Canada. George Klingler and Tina Bak-Nielsen were named 2026 Outstanding Managers of the Year by McDonald’s Canada for their leadership, commitment to customer service and efforts to support employee development. Klingler began working at McDonald’s 22 years ago at age 17 in Amherstburg. He has since worked at five restaurants across the region, focusing on improving operations and building strong teams. He has also supported Ronald McDonald House through initiatives including McHappy Day and the Ronald’s House of Champions youth hockey tournament. “It’s an honour,” Klingler said. “It really means a lot to be appreciated for my hard work and the work of my team.” Bak-Nielsen has worked with McDonald’s for 42 years, beginning as a crew member at age 15. She continued working through high school and university before moving through the ranks and taking on a role focused on employee development. “I was shocked when I found out I won,” Bak-Nielsen said. “This award is really a reflection of what we accomplish together as a team.” McDonald’s Canada says managers are nominated each year by franchisees and regional management based on their commitment to quality, customer service, team development and community support. The company says Klingler and Bak-Nielsen were selected for their leadership and positive impact on their teams and communities.
