Not a good holiday weekend for drivers in Essex County. The Ontario Provincial Police West Region has released its results for the Labour Day Traffic Campaign. In Essex County, officers laid 165 speeding charges, the most in the West Region. They also laid 14 impaired driving charges, once again atop the West Region. There were 14 seat belt charges laid, two distracted driving charges, and six stunt driving charges in Essex County during the Labour Day long weekend. The campaign ran from September 4 to September 7. In total in the West Region, officers stopped 2,330 vehicles and laid 2,142 charges. In 2025 during the Labour Day Traffic campaign, West Region officers stopped 2,155 vehicles and laid 1,601 charges. The West Region consists of 13 regions, including Essex County.
