Pedestrian hit by vehicle, suffers life-threatening injuries: CKPS

A Chatham man has suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle, according to police.

On Wednesday just before 11 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service was called to the scene.

Officers said a 49-year-old man was walking on Longwoods Road between Littlejohn Road and Zone Road 7 in Chatham, when he was hit by a vehicle headed westbound. It was driven by a 54-year-old Thamesville woman.

The man suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a London hospital. The driver, the only one in the vehicle, was not hurt.

The road was closed overnight for the investigation but has since reopened. The investigation is ongoing.
