Innisfil to start renovation on its ‘worst road’

One of the CAA’s worst ranked roads in the area is getting a touch up.

The town of Innisfil announced Thursday that ‘rehabilitation’ work is soon to be under way on 6th Line, between 5th Sideroad and 20th Sideroad.

Earlier this month, 6th line received the number one ranking of Central Ontario’s worst roads, according to the annual CAA Worst Roads list.

The list, compiled by CAA, is based on roads flagged by residents that are deemed ‘frustrating’ to drive on.

The town says rehab work begins Monday and is expected to last six weeks and in that time, residents can expect closures and delays.

According to the town, roadwork includes pulverization of the existing road, base stabilization, reshaping with granular materials, and topping with a new surface.

The town says local traffic, school buses, waste collection and emergency services will have access to the road during the construction period.

However, detours will be set up using 4th Line, 5th Line, and 7th Line as needed for other motorists.
