Chatham-Kent councillor Rhonda Jubenville is urging residents to submit their concerns about a proposed waste facility and landfill in Dresden directly to the province. York1 Environmental Waste Solutions has applied to the province to operate a waste transfer and processing facility at an eight-hectare landfill on Irish School Road. The proposed transfer facility could receive up to 3,000 tonnes of material a day, while the landfill could take up to 1,000 tonnes daily. Chatham-Kent council remains unanimously opposed to the proposal. Residents have 15 days from receiving their notice to submit comments to the province.
