The Angus family is pushing for answers, nearly three months after their loved one was killed. Odell Angus, 24, was fatally shot on July 30. Police found him lying outside the 200 block of Avenue V South just before 7 p.m. He died in hospital. Angus’ death marked the city’s eighth homicide of 2026. Laquida Angus said she and her sister rushed to the scene after a friend told them their brother was hurt. “We seen his bike on the ground, so that’s how we knew it was him,” she said. Lori-Anne Angus said her son was riding his bike along 22nd Street West when he stopped and got involved in an altercation. “He was at the wrong place at the wrong time,” his mother said. Lori-Anne is still struggling to accept that her son is gone. Odell is the third child she has lost. Of her five children, only Laquida and her younger sister remain. Lori-Anne said she could count on a message from her son every night. “He’d say, ‘Goodnight mom, I love you’ ... I don’t have that anymore. It’s hard for me to pick up my phone anymore,” she said. Police have not laid charges and declined to comment on the active investigation. The family is asking anyone with surveillance footage or information to come forward. “Who did it? And why? I want justice for him,” Lori-Anne said. Angus was a father of three. His family remembers him as kind, caring, with a knack for fixing vehicles.
