A 36-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after an armed assault in Montreal’s Plateau-Mont-Royal borough early Thursday. Montreal police say a 911 call came in around 1 a.m. reporting a person injured by a sharp object in an apartment on Rivard Street, near Duluth Avenue. Officers arrived to find the man with injuries to his upper and lower body. He was taken to hospital. Despite the severity of his injuries, police say his life is not in danger. The circumstances of the assault are not yet known. A security perimeter was set up so investigators and crime scene technicians could examine the scene. The canine unit was called in to search for evidence, and officers spoke with witnesses. Police say they will also check for surveillance cameras near the scene. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
