The Berry Barn’s annual haunted house welcomed many visitors looking for a fright over the weekend. “It was quite lively, I would say, you know, scary ghosts showing up, at a certain. It was then scary, but it was funny at the same time, so it was a different feeling...it’s good to be scared,” Amey Kale, a haunted house visitor, said. As the leaves change colour and Halloween draws near, many people seek to get in the spooky spirit by visiting haunted houses like this one. As one of the visitors, Mrunal Karulka, explained, one doesn’t have to look too far for some fear-inducing activities. “It’s Halloween, it’s good...I think because of the Halloween season, now it’s everywhere now,” Karulkar said. She added that this particular activity was a fun one, and she hopes to return with her family next year. “I think the lighting and the decorations they made it was, it was so good. And the music, it was scary,” Karulkar said. This particular haunted house had patrons of all ages, including nine-year-old Madilyn, who went through it alongside her family. “It is horrifying...All the clowns and the things that just popped out at us...I liked the decorations,” Madilyn said. Whether it be a scary movie, television show, or haunted houses like the one at The Berry Barn, many people are keen to lean into their favourite fright this time of year, including 11-year-old Violet, who stopped by the haunted house. “Getting jump-scared...It feels fun...because it gives like a thrill...I liked the giant spider that was hanging on the roof,” Violet said.
