The Saskatchewan Government Employees Union (SGEU) has reached a new tentative collective bargaining agreement for more than 2,000 of its members. The agreement covers a six-year term, from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2029, with the Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations Inc. (SAHO). The agreement covers approximately 2,040 employees in northern and central Saskatchewan including licensed practical nurses, continuing care assistants, medical laboratory technologists, combined laboratory and x-ray technicians, pharmacy technicians, cooks, schedulers, security officers, food services workers, finance officers, environmental service workers, facility maintenance workers and operators. “I am pleased that SGEU and SAHO have reached a tentative agreement that addresses key compensation and retention priorities for health care workers while supporting the continuity of high-quality care for patients across Saskatchewan,” Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill said in the announcement Friday afternoon. “I want to thank both bargaining teams for their hard work, professionalism and commitment throughout the bargaining process.” More details of the agreement are set to be shared following its ratification by SGEU members and SAHO. In a response to CTV News, SGEU said it cannot share details of the agreement until it is brought directly to its members.
