Located in the city’s downtown, the 24th edition of ‘I Love Regina Day’ was on display at Victoria Park on Saturday. In his second ‘I Love Regina Day’ as city mayor, Chad Bachynski reflected on the changes that he’s seen in the Queen City during the last year. “I think just because we’re at I love Regina Day, I think when we talk about some of the downtown revitalization efforts and seeing some of that start to happen, we see some momentum there,” he said. “We’re seeing some work happening on actual developments downtown, we see The Skuare space that’s been activated now.” Recently open to the public, phase one of The Skuare is now open, with games such as bocce, ladder ball and giant chess located right beside Pat Fiacco Square. “I think that’s what I’ve been proud of is that things do take time. But, I think there’s a yearning to see action and have people see the results of what we’ve been talking about,” Bachynski said. “To have everybody come together downtown today and look at our downtown and see some of the changes that are starting to happen, I think it’s really exciting.” During Saturday’s event, there was numerous children’s activities, live local entertainment, a petting zoo and a free barbeque. Despite the Regina Farmers’ Market taking place right beside the event, a number of vendors were also available in the park.
