OC Transpo riders have a chance to provide feedback and raise concerns about public transit over the next four weeks, as the city prepares for an influx of public servants and students on buses and the O-Train this fall. OC Transpo is hosting five customer information sessions over the next four weeks, with Transit Services general manager Rick Leary and staff available to engage with with the public over plans to keep riders moving. In May, Leary unveiled the “OC Transpo Customer-First Action Plan,” focusing on key areas to improve transit in the capital. The four key areas are: make service more reliable, put customers first, strengthen financial stability and build a sustainable workforce. “At each session we will be providing information on how OC Transpo’s Customer-First Action Plan will improve the customer experience and the significant enhancements that will be made to support the expected increase in ridership this fall,” Leary said in a memo to council. “Hearing directly from customers is important to me and my team, and we are committed to yearly customer information sessions as part of our Customer-First Action Plan. My team and I would also welcome the opportunity to participate in future community meetings that may be planned in your community.” The public information sessions are: OC Transpo and the City of Ottawa are expecting an additional 65,000 trips into the downtown core a week this fall as the federal government requires public servants to be in the office a minimum of four days a week and students return to post-secondary institutions. Last week, Council approved a 48-point plan to keep commuters moving this fall, including boosting transit service on busy routes. The plan includes: O-Train Line 1 Buses OC Transpo is planning new connections from Park and Rides, including express bus trips: Express route to DND East end bus improvements Central and south bus improvements
