Firefighters were called to a boarded-up west-end home early Wednesday morning. Smoke at 10223 162 St. was reported at 4 a.m. Firefighters found flames when they arrived. The blaze was under control in half an hour, but not yet out as of 6:45 a.m. Edmonton Fire Rescue Services said no one was inside the bungalow when they arrived. An Aug. 19 City of Edmonton notice posted at the address orders the owner to take action to secure the property, noting a fire risk due to “unauthorized entry.” Investigators were also called to the scene.
