Kingston Police say Ontario’s police watchdog has been contacted following a police shooting in the city’s east end on Wednesday. According to a statement from Kingston Police, the incident occurred at 9:40 a.m. on the Waaban Crossing. Police say the bridge will be closed in both directions for an extended period of time and ask the public to avoid the area. Kingston police did not say whether anyone was injured in the incident. CTV has reached out to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), Ontario’s police oversight agency, for additional information. The SIU investigates police incidents involving the death of a person, the serious injury of a person, the discharge of a firearm at a person or the sexual assault of a person.
