An 18-year-old and a 14-year-old have been arrested in Greater Sudbury in connection with a devastating assault on a 14-year-old victim in Hanmer late last month. The pair have been charged in relation to an assault at a skate park on St. Joseph Street in Hanmer on July 31 just after 9 p.m. They are charged with aggravated assault, uttering death threats and weapons possession. The 18-year-old was also charged with breaching a probation order. The 14-year-old victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. He sustained a broken arm and broken nose, which required surgery. Fundraiser to help the family His family has set up a GoFundMe to help pay for medical and related costs as he recovers from the traumatic attack. “As a result of the incident, detectives with the major crime section of the criminal investigation division launched an investigation and subsequently identified two individuals believed to be responsible for the assault,” police said in a news release Wednesday. The two suspects were arrested Aug. 11. The 14-year-old young offender appeared in bail court on the same day. The 18-year-old was held in police custody overnight and is scheduled to appear in bail court later Wednesday.
