A person pulled from the water at Low Island Park in Little Current, Ont., last month is alive after bystanders performed CPR before paramedics arrived. Ontario Provincial Police received a call at about 8 p.m. on June 23 reporting an individual in distress at the beach. “The individual was pulled from the water and was not showing signs of life,” OPP said in a news release July 22. CPR performed before paramedics arrive Bystanders brought the person to shore and began chest compressions while awaiting emergency medical services. “The individual regained vital signs prior to the arrival of paramedics,” said police. “(They were) transported to hospital for further medical treatment,” added OPP. Police thank public “OPP would like to express its sincere appreciation to the members of the public who acted quickly to assist,” said the local detachment. “Their efforts in bringing the individual to shore and providing CPR played a critical role in this outcome.” “This incident was determined to be non-suspicious, and no further investigation is required,” said OPP.
