Two people have been charged after police in North Bay seized approximately $117,000 worth of suspected illicit drugs, nearly $15,000 in cash and two pellet handguns from a First Avenue East residence. The North Bay Police Service executed a search warrant in the 400 block of the street as part of an ongoing investigation. “As a result, two individuals were arrested, and officers seized a significant quantity of suspected illicit drugs believed to be intended for the purpose of trafficking,” police said in a news release. Search yields fentanyl, oxycodone, coins Police said officers recovered a range of controlled substances with an estimated street value of $117,000 – including 552 grams of fentanyl, 36 grams of cocaine, 187 oxycodone pills, 90 opiate pills and three 180-milligram doses of diverted methadone. According to police, $14,899 in Canadian currency, including more than $4,000 in coins, and two pellet handguns with CO2 cartridges were also found in the home. Officers said the cash and the firearms were also seized as part of the investigation, with the money “believed to be proceeds of crime.” Street Crime Unit’s 2026 tally tops $1.1 million Insp. Scott McFarlane commended the work of the officers involved in the case and placed the seizure in the context of the unit’s broader enforcement efforts this year. “This brings the total value of illicit drugs seized by the Street Crime Unit in 2026, so far, to more than $1.1 million,” said McFarlane. “This investigation is another example of the outstanding work of our Street Crime Unit and Patrol Section.” Charges include trafficking, obstruction Both accused, a 32-year-old woman from Sundridge and a 30-year-old local man, were charged with five drug trafficking offences, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime, obstructing a peace officer and failing to comply with a release order. The woman faces an additional charge of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order. The pair were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
