The information technology (IT) systems at three integrated health and social services centres (CISSSs) have been reestablished after an outage that began on Monday. The interruption, affecting the CISSS Laval, CISSS Laurentians and the CISSS Lanaudière, was due to a severed fibre-optic cable, according to a post by the CISSS Lanaudière on Facebook. As a result, the CISSS Laval had asked the public to avoid going to the emergency room at the Hôpital de la Cité-de-la-Santé, except in cases requiring “immediate intervention.” Though the situation has been fixed, appointments scheduled for Tuesday between 6:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. at all Laval CISSS blood draw centres remain cancelled. Anyone with an appointment for a blood draw or other specimen collection is expected to be contacted by staff. The CISSS de Lanaudière has also cancelled Tuesday appointments for blood draws, vaccinations and testing. The outage also affected certain telephone lines. With files from The Canadian Press.
