Two motorcyclists in critical condition after losing control of their bikes in Gaspé and Laurentians

QUEBEC — Two motorcyclists are fighting for their lives following two separate accidents that occurred Friday evening in the Gaspé Peninsula and the Laurentians.

Emergency services were called Friday evening, around 8:30 p.m., to the Chemin du Tour du Lac in Nominingue, in the Laurentians.

“For a reason that remains unknown at this time, the motorcyclist lost control of his motorcycle. He is a man in his twenties,” said Sergeant Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The man, who was riding alone, was transported to a hospital. His condition was then considered critical.

Two hours earlier, emergency services were called to assist another motorcyclist, this time in Gaspé.

“It happened around 6:30 p.m. Emergency services responded to Boulevard de Pointe Navarre in Gaspé after a man was found unconscious near a motorcycle. The man, in his fifties, had sustained serious injuries,’ said Sergeant Dorsainville.

The man in his fifties was in critical condition when he was transported to the hospital.

“The circumstances need to be clarified to determine what led to the man’s injuries and whether another vehicle was involved,” the SQ spokesperson explained.

Boulevard de Pointe Navarre, which is actually Route 132 at that location, was closed to traffic until around 11:15 p.m.

The Sûreté du Québec’s investigations into these two incidents are ongoing.
