Suspect in custody in connection with 2020 death of Grande Prairie woman

A 29-year-old Mackenzie County, Alta., resident has been charged with second degree murder in connection with the 2020 death of a Grande Prairie woman.

On June 25, officers from Alberta RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit obtained an arrest warrant in relation to the suspicious death of 23-year-old Cheyenne Omeasoo, who police believed died in her Grande Prairie home on Aug. 11, 2020.

On Friday, officers arrested 29-year-old Amadeus Laforce and charged him with second degree murder.

Laforce was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He’s scheduled to appear in court in Grande Prairie on Monday.
