Montreal police (SPVM) say a man in his 30s was stabbed during an altercation in the West Island overnight. Police were called at 2:10 a.m. Sunday to the area of Gouin Boulevard and 8th Avenue in the Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough. “When officers arrived at the scene, they located a victim: a 35-year-old man. He was conscious and had injuries to his upper body caused by a sharp object. He was taken to hospital,” said Const. Caroline Chèvrefils, a spokesperson for the Montreal police service. Police said Sunday that he remains in hospital in stable condition with serious injuries. The victim and his alleged attacker, a 38-year-old man, are known to each other, police say. The suspect was arrested at around 3:45 a.m. in Mirabel. “The suspect has been taken to an investigation centre, where he will be interviewed by detectives over the next few hours,” said the SPVM spokesperson. A security perimeter has been set up to protect the crime scene and facilitate the work of the investigators and the forensic technician. “Witnesses to the incident have been interviewed by the police,” said Chèvrefils. “Checks will be carried out on any surveillance cameras located near the scene.” The SPVM’s investigation is ongoing.
