A Québec City man has been charged by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for allegedly making death threats against Prime Minister Mark Carney. Ousmane Bah, 45, is charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm to a person and with wilfully promoting hatred against Caucasians under the Criminal Code. He allegedly made the threatening remarks on his Facebook account, according to an RCMP press release. “Any threats in-person or online that mean to cause bodily harm or death are a criminal offence that can have very severe consequences,” Corporal Martina Pillarova, spokesperson for the RCMP, told CTV News. The RCMP’s Integrated National Security Enforcement Team launched an investigation on July 6. Bah appeared at the Québec City courthouse on Sept. 24, and his next court date is Oct. 1. He remains in custody until his next court appearance. He’s also required to undergo a psychiatric evaluation, the RCMP said. In August, another Quebec man, Marc-André Porlier, was also charged after he allegedly made death threats against Carney.
