Iconic greasy spoon Ashton is opening a location at Montreal’s Complexe Desjardins. The restaurant chain revealed the news on its social media accounts, confirming the official opening for Monday. This is the second location to launch in the Greater Montreal area after Premium Outlets Montreal in Mirabel, about 40 minutes from the city, in 2025. The move comes after Jean-Christophe Lirette and partner Emily Adam took over the Ashton chain in 2022. A year and a half ago, they purchased La Banquise, one of Montreal’s most well-known poutine restaurants. This isn’t the first time Ashton has tried to infiltrate the Montreal market. In the 1980s, the chain attempted to open a location in the city, but without great success.
