London content creator uses lived experience to support adults with autism

Local London influencer and autism advocate Daniel Jones says he “fell into” the unique career.

“I was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, which is an autism spectrum disorder level one, when I was 26,” said Jones. “I looked on the internet for videos about it, and I couldn’t find any, so I decided to just put my own out.”

April marks National Autism Awareness Month, and Jones says he wants to use his platform to support other adults who can relate to his experiences.

“That’s one of my main areas is to help adults’ kind of seek life skills and help for their diagnosis later on in life,” said Jones.

Jones says he tailors his social media content to what his followers are “responding to” and “asking for.”

“One of the biggest mistakes people make is they will put content out that they want to hear but no one cares,” said Jones. “If you can get values out of it, if you can increase their potential in some way, they are going to love that.”

Jones explains having a social media career comes with its challenges but that isn’t going to stop him.

“You get complaints and hate but that’s just an indicator you’re doing something good,” said Jones. “I think it was Taylor Swift that said there’s no such thing as a hater, just someone who needs more love.”
