The winter flight schedule for London International Airport (YXU) has been released, and officials say it’s the largest selection of direct winter sun destinations to date. The airport announced an enhanced winter schedule in partnership with Porter Airlines, Air Transat, WestJet and Sunwing Vacations, with direct service to six destinations in Mexico, the Caribbean and the United States. “This is an exciting milestone for YXU and for our entire region,” airport chief executive officer Scott McFadzean said in a release. McFadzean said the expanded schedule reflects demand for air travel in the region and gives travellers more convenient options closer to home. Under the schedule, travellers will be able to fly directly from London to Cancun, Mexico, with up to nine flights a week. Service will also be available to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Montego Bay, Jamaica, Punta Cana and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. Airport officials said the additional routes and frequencies represent the most extensive lineup of sun destinations in its history, offering what it described as greater flexibility and choice for travellers seeking winter getaways.
