The Waterloo Regional Police Service is hoping the public can help them identify the person responsible for at least five thefts from coffee shops in Kitchener and Wilmot Township. All of them happened between July 5 and July 28. On Sunday, police shared security video from the most recent theft. The male suspect could be seen entering through the front door of the store and walking behind the counter to the cash register. He presses several buttons on the screen to get the cash drawer to open, pulls out the till and then rushes back out of the store. In the video, the suspect is seen wearing a black toque with a scarf over his face, mittens and what appears to be a dark jacket with “Tim Hortons” written on the chest. Police said the suspect is wanted for similar thefts at Westmount Road East and Ottawa Street South, Courtland Avenue East and Shelley Drive, Fischer-Hallman Road and Bleams Road, and Bleams Road at Highway 7. He is described as approximately 6’0” tall and was last seen driving off in what appeared to be a grey 2017-2019 Ford Escape.
