Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say four people have been charged in connection with an alleged investment scam. The victim, a resident of Puslinch Township, reported a loss of approximately $500,000. OPP said their Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) in Wellington County began investigating the scheme in October 2025 and discovered evidence of money laundering. On March 27, officers searched a Brampton home. Police said they found a large amount of Canadian cash, high-end clothing and purses, electronic devices and personal documents. They also charged a 29-year-old from Brampton with laundering the proceeds of crime, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and fraud over $5,000. OPP made a second arrest on April 16. A 34-year-old from London was arrested in Mississauga. They were charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and laundering the proceeds of crime. On Sept. 4, officers arrested a 28-year-old from Vaughan. He was charged with fraud over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and laundering the proceeds of crime. The fourth and final arrest happened on Sept. 10. OPP said they searched a home in London where they seized electronic devices and various documents. The value of those items was estimated at $8,000. A 31-year-old from London was charged with laundering the proceeds of crime and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
