Flames broke out Sunday morning at a townhouse along Courtland Avenue East in Kitchener. Firefighters were called to the property around 6:30 a.m. According to a media release from the City of Kitchener, the fire was located in an exterior entrance used by two units. They said both were vacant at the time and no injuries were reported. While crews were able to extinguish the flames quickly, damage to the building was estimated at $200,000. “At this time, there are no concerns regarding structural damage to the building,” the city said, noting that the Ontario Fire Marshal had been contacted. The cause of the fire has not been released.
