Pedestrian dies after getting hit by truck in northern Alberta

Police say a man is dead after getting hit by a Ford pickup truck south of Grande Prairie.

Shortly after 9 p.m. on May 8, RCMP responded to a collision involving a pedestrian on Highway 666 between Highway 40 and the hamlet of Grovedale.

A 30-year-old man from Stony Plain was taken to hospital and later died of his injuries, said RCMP in a news release Thursday.

Information from the public revealed that a newer grey Ford F350 may have seen the incident, as it was reported to have pulled over on the side of Highway 666 near O’Brien Provincial Park between 9 p.m. and 9:20 p.m.

Those who were in the vehicle, or members of the public who can identify the vehicle, or have dashcam footage of that area is asked to contact Clairmont RCMP at 780-830-5114. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
