1 flown to hospital after head-on crash north of Edmonton

One person was flown by STARS air ambulance to a hospital Friday evening after a head-on crash in northern Alberta.

RCMP say Highway 44 near Township Road 683, south of Chisholm, Alta., is closed while they investigate a collision between a car and an SUV that was called in just after 6 p.m.

Mounties said there were serious injuries but did not confirm further details. STARS confirmed one person was flown to a hospital in Edmonton.

An update was expected with more details as the investigation continued.

Chisholm is approximately 185 kilometres north of Edmonton.
