Officials behind one of Calgary’s top attractions is warning of a number of fraudulent websites claiming to be selling tickets. The Wilder Institute’s Calgary Zoo issued a warning on Tuesday, advising guests to take precautions when buying tickets online. “The zoo has identified multiple unauthorized websites appearing to offer admission tickets,” the facility said in a news release. “While the zoo’s information technology team is actively working to identify and report these sites, new fraudulent websites can appear quickly.” Staff say guests should always double check the website address before entering any personal information and be cautious about any URL that appears to imitate the zoo’s website or advertise through “unauthorized channels.” “Guests who believe they have purchased tickets through an unauthorized website should contact their payment provider or financial institution as soon as possible to report the transaction and ask about available options,” officials said. “Guests can also contact the zoo’s guest relations team at (403) 232-9300 for assistance with verifying ticket authenticity or ticket purchasing.” The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo says legitimate tickets are available online through its official website and through specific “trusted online travel agencies.” Full details on where you can purchase tickets online can be found on calgaryzoo.com.
