Lake Chaparral was closed to the public Friday following an unsatisfactory water quality test result. The residents association posted a notice on its website that a routine test taken on earlier in the week came back Friday with “unsatisfactory Enterococcus bacteria “Upon receiving notification, the lake was immediately closed to recreational water use,” they said. Anyone who has used the lake since Tuesday and has concerns about their health or are experiencing gastrointestinal illness or skin, ear or eye irritation are advised to contact health Link at 811 or their healthcare provider for advice. The park remains open every day from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., but all recreational use of the lake is forbidden until further notice. The Lake Chaparral Residents Association said it is working with AHS to do follow-up testing.
