Calgary fire crews say one person was taken to hospital and one cat was given oxygen after a house fire in the city’s northeast on Tuesday. Fire crews were called to a home on Bedford Circle in the community of Beddington Heights on Tuesday just before 6:30 p.m. for reports of a structure fire. Calgary Fire Department public information officer Alex Kwan says fire crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames, and a garage that had been completely destroyed. Kwan says one adult resident had gotten themselves out, while fire crews discovered two cats inside the home. One of those cats was given first aid at the scene — including oxygen — but were not seriously injured. Meanwhile, he says the resident of the home was assessed and taken to hospital with serious injuries but in stable condition. The fire was knocked down and there was no significant damage to neighbouring properties, Kwan said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
