For the second time in two weeks, a Grand Bend beach has been posted as unsafe for swimming due to high counts of E.coli. Testing Tuesday resulted in Grand Bend’s North Beach being posted as unsafe for swimming. Ipperwash Beach is also posted as unsafe for swimming due to high E.coli. Goderich’s Main Beach remains over the limit for E.coli as well. Last week, beaches in Grand Bend also tested over the limit for E.coli. That posting lasted for two days. Health officials say even if beaches aren’t posted, swimmers should be leery of swimming in water within two days of a storm. “If you can’t see the bottom of the lake, and it’s wavy and there’s been a storm two days prior, then consider it probably high for E.coli,” said Dale Lyttle, Senior Health Inspector, with Huron Perth Public Health. “You’re taking a risk if you want to swim. What could happen is that they could have diarrhea or get infections of the skin, nose, eyes, or throat.”
