The Ranch 2.0 appears to be wrangling back its farewell to Barrie, teasing a mysterious new chapter just one day after announcing it was closing the doors. The popular country bar on Bayfield Street sparked an outpouring of reaction after a late-night social media post on Monday announced its closure, thanking customers for years of memories, friendships and packed dance floors. “It is with heavy hearts that we announce that The Ranch 2.0 will be closing its doors,” the post, which has since been deleted, read. The business signed off with an emotional farewell; “Once a Ranch family, always a Ranch family. Until we meet again, Barrie.” But what seemed like a goodbye may have been premature, or simply a clever marketing ploy. In an email to CTV News, The Ranch 2.0 team confirmed the closure is not permanent and that the business has not been sold. Then, in another late-night social media post Tuesday, the business hinted at something entirely new. “When one door closes, an exciting new one opens,” the updated post read. “While our doors have closed for now, this isn’t the end of The Ranch story. In fact, we’re looking ahead to an exciting new chapter.” Staff tipped their hats to everyone for the overwhelming response to the initial announcement but stopped short of explaining what that next chapter will look like. “We aren’t quite ready to share all the details just yet, but we can’t wait to share what’s next when the time is right,” the post read. “The next chapter is just getting started.” For now, The Ranch’s next rodeo is anybody’s guess. With no timeline for reopening and few details on what’s to come, questions linger about the bar that has been at the heart of Barrie’s nightlife for years.
