Provincial police say they had to take dramatic measures to stop a speeding vehicle in Gravenhurst. Police say the incident began around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. A man in Huntsville reported a robbery along Main Street to police, in which a male approached him with an object in hand and demanded his vehicle’s keys. The man handed over the keys and told police the vehicle left the area at a high rate of speed. Officers from several OPP detachments attended the scene, along with K9 units and the OPP’s Emergency Response Team. Around 10:15 a.m. police located the vehicle near Canning Road on Highway 11, in Gravenhurst, travelling southbound. Police say they had to deploy a tire deflation device to safely bring the vehicle to a stop. The male driver was taken into custody without incident and there were no injuries reported during the robbery. There is no word yet on charges laid.
