Police charge 12-year-old in relation to threats made online

A 12-year-old is facing charges after police say a threatening video was posted online.

Provincial police say on Friday, they were alerted to the video that had been posted to social media.

According to police, in the video, the 12-year-old allegedly suggested potential threats towards other individuals at a local school.

After an investigation, Orangeville OPP decided a hold-and-secure was not necessary and there was no threat to the public.

However, the 12 year old now faces two counts of uttering threats to cause bodily harm.

In accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), the identity of the youth cannot be released.
