A 25-year-old Hillsdale man with ties to Barrie and Petawawa is facing more than a dozen charges accused of sex crimes against girls under the age of 16. Michael Kameron Baxter appeared in an Ottawa bail court Wednesday afternoon where he was released from custody, accused of two counts each of sexual assault and sexually touching girls under the age of 14 in May and June 2025 in the Ottawa area. It was around that time police in Orillia announced Baxter had been arrested following an alleged incident at a west Orillia store that investigators said involved sexual touching of a girl that was secretly recorded. RELATED: Petawawa man facing sexual assault charges, police appealing to other potential victims Provincial police believed at the time there may have been more victims out there and encouraged anyone who was affected to come forward. Baxter is ordered by the court not to communicate with or be anywhere near about a dozen girls. He had been out on bail with a GPS ankle monitor, according to court documents obtained by CTV News. Court records show Baxter is charged with offences in Barrie between Aug. 2024 and June 2025. He is represented by Barrie defence lawyer Andrew Knott who declined to comment on the case. Baxter is scheduled to make his next appearance in two weeks. The allegations against him have not been tested in court.
