Three people are responsible for taking three allegedly impaired drivers off the roads. The Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested three drivers with impaired driving-related offences over the last five days, with all incidents originating from reports from the public. On Saturday shortly after 1:30 p.m., OPP received a report of a red Jeep travelling westbound on Highway 89 toward Alliston. The caller said the vehicle was driving into oncoming traffic and swerving onto the shoulder of the roadway. Police located the Jeep and the driver was arrested. On Tuesday, shortly before 8:30 p.m., police received a report that a customer, who had been drinking at a local bar in Alliston was seen climbing into a vehicle and driving away. Officers found both the vehicle and driver matching the description, and they were arrested. Shortly after noon today, police were called about a black pickup truck swerving and overcorrecting on Victoria Street in Alliston. While speaking with the driver, the officer noted drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested and taken to the station for an evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), where he was charged with impaired by drug offences. All three accused had their driver’s licences suspended for 90 days and their vehicles impounded for seven days. They were released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford at a future date to answer to the charges.
