Gas prices to rise 9 cents on Saturday, says affordable energy president

Experts predict the price at the pumps will rise on Saturday and here in Barrie -- regular gas could climb about 9 cents to $1.82.

Gas prices are set to jump this weekend.

Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, says fuel is expected to rise on Saturday.

According to Gas Wizard, in Barrie, regular gas could climb about 9 cents to 182.9. Diesel also ticks up by 2 cents to 203.9, while premium stays the same.

On Friday, prices are sitting significantly lower: regular at 173.9, diesel at 201.9 and premium steady at 203.9.

The more expensive summer fuel blend has arrived at gas stations across Canada.

This change is causing the price of regular gasoline to increase by nearly 10 cents per litre. As a result, the increase could offset any savings from the recent suspension of the federal fuel excise tax.
