People across Simcoe Muskoka are being advised that intermittent 911 outages are affecting emergency calling services across Ontario. Just before 5 a.m. Thursday, the Ontario Provincial Police said that anyone unable to reach 911 who requires police assistance should call the OPP’s non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122. Police say officers continue to respond to calls for service despite the temporary outage. The public is being asked not to call 911 for information, updates or to test whether the service is working. The OPP says it is working with providers to restore service as quickly as possible. Officers in York Region said the 911 emergency line was unable to receive calls at one point, but posted on social media at 4:52 a.m. that lines are now fully operational. Barrie Police said its communications team experienced no known issues and received no reports from the public related to the outage. CTV News has contacted local police services to confirm whether they are experiencing any impacts from the provincewide outage.
