Police say they had to get canine units involved in chasing down a man believed to be involved in a crime. Barrie police say an officer was on general patrol in the Perry Street area at Milligan’s pond when police noticed “suspicious” activity. According to police, the officer identified a man in the area as someone connected to an investigation of a break-and-enter. The man fled the area on a bike, police say. What followed was a foot pursuit assisted by the canine unit that resulted in the arrest of the man. Police say the 42-year-old man taken into custody is believed to be responsible for multiple commercial break-ins that have happened over the last month. According to police, many of these happened in northeast Barrie. There is no word yet on how many and what kinds of charges have been laid against the man.
