Canadian spirit is on full display with the arrival of the World Cup. Flags Unlimited in Barrie makes about one million flags a year. The company tells CTV News the Canadian flag is its most popular. Staff say events like this summer’s World Cup are always good for business. “We’ve ramped up our production in order to accommodate the nonstop orders,” said Maureen Christie, with Flags Unlimited. “Our retail store has been a nonstop influx of people; it’s just been a steady stream in and out,” Christie said. The tournament is expected to have millions of viewers over the next 38 days. On Friday, Team Canada earned a draw in its inaugural game on home soil against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Royal Canadian Legion in Barrie is also all set for the action, using Canada’s home games as a fundraiser to support local charities. “This is the first time we have ever done this, so it’s a learning experience,” said Fern Taillefer, president of the Barrie Legion.
