Provincial police are looking for a suspect who they say stole a boat out of the driveway of a home in Kawartha Lakes. Kawartha Lakes OPP say the owner of the boat had returned from a trip on Tuesday and left their boat in the driveway temporarily before putting it in storage. According to the owner’s account, the boat was taken from the home around 2 a.m. on Tuesday. Screenshots of camera footage show a person arriving in a pickup, hitching the boat and trailer to the back of their truck before presumably driving off with it. The boat in question is a 2024 Smoker Craft Pro Angler 172, police say. Police describe the watercraft as white and silver/grey metallic in colour, the licence number ON9487637 is displayed on it as well as the hull number SMK26046F324. The trailer taken with the boat is a black with white single axle Smoker Craft trailer with Ontario licence plate Z3082T. The combined value of the boat and trailer is an estimated $58,000, police say. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the boat or information that could help identify the suspect is asked to contact OPP or Crimestoppers.
