Canadian rockers April Wine are heading back to the Maritimes this spring, joining Triumph as special guests on a major North American tour. While the band’s members are now spread across the country, they formed in Nova Scotia, and longtime guitarist Brian Greenway says their East Coast origins remain strong. “It was part of the band’s DNA, and as far as I’m concerned, no matter where we end up being from, our roots are in Nova Scotia,” said Greenway in an interview with CTV Atlantic’s Katie Kelly. Greenway, the band’s current longest-serving member, joined April Wine in 1977 and says life on the road is still exciting. “I love it. The arenas, the bus… I love the smell of it. It’s runaway joy in the circus,” he said. The upcoming tour reunites two iconic Canadian rock bands with a shared history, including past shows together in the 1980s. “I think it’s going to be a great package,” said Greenway “Two Canadian rock bands. It’s going to be a night of rock.” April Wine will open for Triumph on April 28 at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax and April 29 at the Avenir Centre in Moncton.
