Toronto duo YASSiN & Sean Terrio drove from Ontario to New Glasgow, N.S. to put on a show Thursday night. It was their second time performing on the East Coast, but first time in this small Nova Scotian community. “Philosophically we are just guys that went for it. But we are actually a group of guys who met in a serendipitous way at an open mic and slowly but surely, we kept meeting people who wanted to do the same thing and here we are,” says Sean Terrio. The duo joined forces in 2018 and released their first album ‘Learn and Apply’ two years ago. They are dropping their second album in October and a new single in the next few months. “Rock n Roll, high energy, love songs, crazy vocals from Sean Terrio,” says Zack Yassin when describing the duo’s sound. “We definitely have a pop thread that runs through everything, but we can do soul, little country, little R&B,” adds Terrio. The pair hope to bring their talent across the country, especially the smaller markets. “We love it out here, we are trying to become the next ‘Tragically hip’ of Canada. We say we are like the interracial Hall & Oates, but we are really like the interracial ‘Tragically Hip,’ that’s what we are trying to do. We try to get from coast-to-coast in Canada to get everyone to know who we were,” says Yassin. Yassin & Sean Terrio are set to perform Friday night in downtown Halifax at The Carleton, before heading back to Ontario to paly at The Sound Of Music Festival in Burlington.
