Nova Scotia-to-Maine ferry sees uptick in passengers compared to 2025

The CAT ferry, which provides service between Nova Scotia and Maine, has seen an uptick in passengers this season compared to the same time last year.

Bay Ferries Limited, which runs transportation services in the Maritimes and United States, says the CAT has had 31,677 passengers since it launched the 2026 season on May 14.

It had 24,613 passengers this time last year.

“This robust growth is primarily driven by higher numbers of American tourists using this important service,” Mark Wilson, CEO of Bay Ferries Limited, in a news release. “We look forward to welcoming all visitors to Nova Scotia and continuing to strengthen the relationships that make this cross-border connection so valuable.”

Bay Ferries says 86 per cent of the total bookings are from the United States.

The CAT will run daily service between Yarmouth, N.S., and Bar Harbor, Maine until Sept. 21, at which point it will switch to five days per week until the end of the season on Oct. 14.
