63-year-old woman charged with impaired driving in fatal crash: N.B. RCMP

A 63-year-old woman has been charged with impaired operation causing death in connection to a fatal two-vehicle crash in Waasis, N.B., last August.

Police responded to the reported collision on Nevers Road around 6:58 p.m. on Aug. 19. They believe a southbound motorcycle struck a northbound vehicle as it was turning left into a driveway.

“The driver of the motorcycle died at the scene as a result of his injuries,” an RCMP news release reads. “The driver of the car did not suffer any injuries.”

On Dec. 22, a 63-year-old woman from Waasis was arrested for impaired operation causing death.

On Tuesday, Joanne Powell was charged in connection to the investigation. She is scheduled to appear in Fredericton provincial court on Thursday.
