They weren’t just a band. They were a worldwide phenomenon. This fall, an all-Canadian stage show aims to bring Beatlemania back to life. “Ones: The Beatles #1 Hits” is touring across the country with a live production built around the band’s biggest chart-toppers, narrated and accompanied by a multimedia presentation. “Everybody knows all those songs,” said producer and writer Frank Zirone in an interview with CTV Atlantic’s Katie Kelly. “What a lot of people don’t know is the stories behind the songs.” She said the goal is to recreate the feeling people had hearing those songs for the first time. “We will have times in the house where everybody is singing the entire song and that’s a wonderful feeling,” said Zirone. The show has been around for a decade, growing from small venues to major stages including stops on the Mirvish stage in Toronto this year. Zirone says the production is designed to feel nostalgic and immersive, featuring multiple singers, a full band and orchestral elements. “My first and most important mission was to create the music the way that people heard it on the radio,” she said. “Ones: The Beatles #1 Hits” tours this fall with two Maritime stops on Friday, October 16th at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium in Halifax and Saturday, October 17th at Casino New Brunswick in Moncton.
